Job Title: Tasting Room Server

Timeframe: Immediate

Wage: Competitive hourly wage plus tips, non-exempt

Reports to: Tasting Room Manager, may have responsibilities and job tasks assigned by Owners/Managers.

Status: Part time, 20-30 hours/week, non-exempt.

Summary:

The ideal candidate will be an energetic, friendly, motivated, outgoing and hardworking individual who takes initiative. Flexibility in schedule is required. Proficient computer skills is a must. This position will have the opportunity to progress into a full time schedule with the continued growth of the company.

Job Description:

  • Serve Mast Landing Brewing Company craft beers in the tasting room.

  • Be able to answer questions and make recommendations regarding our beer selection.   

  • Sell Mast Landing Brewing Company merchandise.  

  • Be knowledgeable about Mast Landing Brewing Company’s beer and brewing process to share with customers. Also, be able to discuss the elements of craft beer to patrons.  Be willing to be trained on the art and science of craft brewing and craft beers.  

  • Record drink orders accurately and immediately into the Point of Sale system.  

  • Accept guest payment, process credit card charges and make change, if applicable.  

  • Clean bar area and glassware.

  • Wash and sterilize glassware.  

  • Clear and reset tables and clean bathrooms in tasting room.  

  • Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas, etc.  

  • Perform the restocking and replenishment of inventory and supplies.  

  • Report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to manager.  

  • Be familiar with Mast Landing Brewing Company promotions, sales and assist with special events.  

  • Complete opening and closing duties as outlined by owners and managers.  

  • Demonstrate the ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing manner.

Qualifications:  

  • Meet the minimum Maine State age requirement to serve alcohol.  

  • Possess a valid State of Maine approved server training certification (e.g. TIPS) and/or be willing to successfully complete training provided by Mast Landing Brewing Company.  

  • Strong knowledge of restaurant/tasting room operations and service procedures.  

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.  

  • Possess basic math skills, possess the ability to handle money and operate a cash register.  

  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours) and climb up and down steps.  

  • Punctual and regular, reliable attendance.  

  • Honesty and Integrity.  

  • Basic computer skills and knowledge.

  • Experience with an iPad and/or Square POS system is a plus.  

  • Ability to work quickly, problem solve and think on your feet while maintaining poise in a fast-paced environment.  

  • Positive, infectious attitude and sense of humor.

  • Personable, kind, and customer service oriented.  

  • Passion for the service industry, desire to be part of a team and work hard, high level of self-awareness and long-term view of success.  

  • Well-versed in: beer history; brewing techniques; preparation techniques, styles, flavor profiles or possess a willingness to learn.

Education and/or Experience:  

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.  

  • Three years of service/hospitality industry experience as a server is preferred.

  • Cicerone certification a major plus.  

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
