Sanctuary - A Freeport IPA to Welcome Our New Tasting Room

Today we announce a celebratory beer; a beer that welcomes the new, while building on what already exists. With the opening date for our new Freeport Tasting room finally set, we looked ahead to the future by creating a beer that channels all the progress we’ve made in Westbrook over the first 5 years of the brewery.

The Mast Landing Sanctuary in Freeport captures so much of what we love about the area - beautiful scenery, a sense of history, and commitment to community. As we return to the town where the brewery first took shape, we hope to bring the same energy in welcoming locals & visitors.

Before Mast Landing was a full fledged brewery, our founders homebrewed in a Freeport garage. What better way to ring in our return to the area than a beer than celebrates one of the area’s most beautiful landmarks?

Sanctuary IPA is a bold and accessible landmark for our expansion as we build a new path in the Mast Landing story. Citra, Rakau, El Dorado, and Strata hops bring notes of pineapple, clementine, orange, lime, and red berries with a smooth, full body. A touch of bitterness brings the beer together and helps round out the big notes of citrus. What’s clear to us as we taste this beer is the progression from the early days of the brewery in Westbrook. As we experimented and explored the idea of a true Mast Landing IPA, our local supporters always were excited to try our newest recipes.

While Sanctuary celebrates the opening of our Freeport location, it does so with an eye on the community we’ve been lucky to engage with up to this point. We see this beer signaling an extension of everything that has kept us inspired and excited, with many more great times to come at Mast Landing.
