Introducing Mast Landing South Portland

As we ring in 2023, with it comes an exciting next step in Mast Landing’s hospitality journey. A cozy neighborhood taproom in South Portland; the type of room where we see ourselves catching up with old friends over a beer; a walkable, casual outpost for everything we’ve worked so hard to create all across Southern Maine. Today we open the doors, and we are thrilled to make good on all the anticipation that has been building around the community.

There are many throughlines that carry into our spot at 185 Cottage Road. The space was previously occupied by our frequent collaborators at Rwanda Bean Coffee, and it was a pleasure to inherit the niche they carved out. Their coffee will live on in the taproom through the beers we brew with their beans. Meanwhile, sharing the back half of the building are our new friends at Cape Whoopies, who keep the building smelling incredible & our sweet teeth satisfied. Grab one of their whoopie pies at the bar and pair it with your beers for the most divine treat imaginable.

On the staffing side, you will see many familiar faces running the show in South Portland. Cole Mangano, who has brought laughs and beers to our Westbrook space for years, will be on point as Manager in the new taproom. Cole will be working closely with Melissa Genthner, another long time Mast Landing front-of-house mainstay, who recently moved into a full on leadership role as the General Manager of all MLBC taprooms. You know as well as we do that there couldn’t be two people who are better equipped to steer the ship into South Portland. They’ll be joined by a host of bartenders from across the world of Mast Landing, sharing their knowledge and passion for beer.

In the grand scheme of things, our South Portland taproom plays into the larger vision for Mast Landing. We pride ourselves on taking every opportunity possible to engage with communities both big and small. Opening a neighborhood spot in South Portland does just that - places us among many long time fans, with countless new folks ready to jump on board thanks to the exceptional beers our production team brews and the welcoming environment our taproom teams create. With 3 taprooms we hope to provide 3 completely unique experiences, each wonderful in its own way while reflecting the core values of the company. We’re biased of course, but the first sip of a Mast Landing beer tastes extra special when poured at one of our taprooms. We look forward to many such experiences in South Portland, and hope to see you soon.
